The Nom Now x Trick Go Art Show: Realize » Create » Beautify
September 18th, 2010 § 3 Comments
We had our second show at TrickGo yesterday (Realize » Create » Beautify) and it was a fantastic time! What I love most about doing these shows is that no one is ever pissed off or angry at them. Everyone is so nice and so open to talk about anything, it is the definition of a “good time on the reg”. You get to meet new people, learn more about what is going on in the art scene around the city, get drunk, dance around to throw back blink 182 songs, and just smile for hours on end, it’s really exciting.
We had 8 new posters available and a raffle for each of the 3 (2′ x 4′) wheatpastes and 3 lucky folks got to claim them at the end of the night! (as a side note to explain the wheatpastes) Matt and I were aware that we needed to do something cool and intersting for the show so we were messing around with a few ideas but then Matt came up with the idea of putting Realize, Create, Beautify on each panel, but we were still wondering how to tie them together as a whole. I said why don’t we put patterns in the background and tie them together with a color scheme. From there I designed the Realize Panel which is black and white and is more of a plain pattern (sort of argile) and Matt designed the Beautify Panel which is to represent beautiful colors, evoke feeling, and life. Then together we solved the Create Panel, I made the background pattern which is the perfect middle ground between my Realize pattern and his Beautify pattern. Then Matt did the coloring which was also a middle ground, muted version of the two. Together these panels looked beautiful and they stand at about 6′ tall by 4′ wide. If you get the chance to go peep them before they are gone please do! The project was unbelievably fun and I feel it really turned out great.
I didn’t take any photo’s of the shirts that we collabed on BUT I think there are a few left in the store if you want to go pick one up and rock some Nom Now swag. The show is going to stay up for about a month so if you couldn’t make it out last night, NO WORRIES, just stop by whenever you have the chance all the people that run TrickGo are literally the nicest people I have ever met and they will help you out and hook you up!
I need to give credit where credit is due, we couldn’t have done this show without Gab Bonghi, she kills it with promotion and just being a HUGE help the whole way through, there was never a time where I heard her say, “I or You can’t do something,” it was always yes, yes, yes and that was such a great experience! Thank you Gab and everyone else at TrickGo you guys are the Kings/Queen’s aside from Yis, The King. (hahaha)
Also, THANK YOU to everyone that promoted the show and got people to come out it was SO great to see some new and some familiar faces walk through the door. We couldn’t do this without you! I could not be more grateful for all of you coming out to say hi and look at our art.
